Dual Fuel Generators to Support UNELCO Grid
The Government of Vanuatu, through the Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC), is pleased to announce the signing of a contract between the Honourable Minister of Climate Change, Mr. Ralph Regenvanu, and the Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) for the purchase and manufacture of two (2) custom-manufactured dual fuel generators (Dual CNO GENSETs), each rated at 800kW.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in advancing Vanuatu’s transition towards sustainable, locally sourced energy solutions.
The project underscores a strong partnership between the Government of Vanuatu and key stakeholders, particularly the local utility company, UNELCO, whose collaboration is essential for the successful integration and operation of these systems within the national grid.
The coconut oil generators will play a vital role in reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels while promoting the use of locally available coconut oil as an alternative energy source.
This aligns with Vanuatu’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) priorities and contributes to national efforts in strengthening energy security, supporting local economic opportunities, and advancing climate resilience.
The Government2, through MoCC extends its sincere appreciation to all technical teams and stakeholders whose dedication and support have made this milestone possible.
This contract signing reflects Vanuatu’s continued commitment to innovative, climate-responsive solutions and reinforces its pathway toward a low-emission and sustainable future.
